چکیده

Aims of study Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer has been gaining wider acceptance as an alternative procedure to open radical prostatectomy. The laparoscopic surgery have been reported to be less invasive and expected to give more favorable impacts on postoperative urinary continence as compared with the open procedure. However, the precise impacts of the laparoscopic procedure on the vesicourethral function have not been confirmed. In the present study, the impact of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy on the vesicourethral function was assessed and compared with that of open radical prostatectomy.

Novel Management of Anastomotic Disruption and Persistent Hematuria Following Robotic Prostatectomy: Case Report and Review of the Literature

Vesicourethral anastomosis leaks are not uncommon following radical prostatectomy. We present a case of a 59-year-old male who presented to our ED with hematuria, abdominal pain, and clot retention 17 days after a robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy. A 50% vesicourethral disruption was ultimately managed endoscopically and with hemostatic agents. At 9-month follow-up he is fully contine...

Complete Vesicourethral Anastomotic Disruption Following Prostatectomy

Vesicourethral anastomotic (VUA) disruption with bladder displacement into the abdominal cavity following robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) is an exceedingly rare complication. There have been no cited case reports after robotic surgery but case reports after open radical prostatectomy have been noted. Other complications related to VUA include bleeding with or without pelvic hem...

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Bladder Neck Contracture After Radical Prostatectomy

PURPOSE To evaluate the prevalence of bladder neck contracture (BNC) and its risk factors in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy in Korea. MATERIALS AND METHODS We analyzed data from 488 patients with prostatic cancer who underwent radical prostatectomy performed by seven surgeons in seven hospitals, including 365 open radical prostatectomies (ORPs), 99 laparoscopic radical prostatectom...

Objective: to describe our experience with a minimally invasive approach for persistent vesicourethral anastomotic leak (PVAL) after Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy (LRP). Methods: from 2004 to 2011, two surgeons performed LRP in 620 patients. Ten patients had PVAL, with initially indicated conservative treatment, to no avail. These patients underwent a minimally invasive operation, consisti...

Delayed Hem-o-Lok Clip Erosion Following Salvage Radical Prostatectomy

Introduction: Weck Hem-o-Lok (Teleflex Medical, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) clips are frequently used to achieve hemostasis of the lateral prostatic pedicles during radical prostatectomy. Rarely, these clips can detach and migrate into the bladder wall, leading to postoperative urinary tract complications. Hem-o-Lok clip migration into the bladder is a rare complication of laparosco...
